Habitat for Humanity - Women Build

Women Build

This fall, to help mark our 30th Anniversary, Habitat for Humanity Niagara will embark upon one of Habitat Canada’s most celebrated

endeavours: a Women Build.

Habitat Niagara’s Women Build TOGETHER program promotes the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat homes by hosting Build Days with the majority of the planning and execution undertaken by women. More than 200 women will come together this fall to help with the construction of a two-unit semi-detached home in Thorold, creating stable and secure housing for two hard-working, local families.

Ways to get involved

Our Women Build TOGETHER build teams, sponsoring partners and future homeowners will come together to make a difference that will last generations. These groups will work side-by-side to construct homes, help Habitat Niagara increase its building capacity and change lives through affordable homeownership.

About Women Build
TOGETHER

In 1991, a group of women in Charlotte, North Carolina, completed the first women-built Habitat for Humanity house. Since then, Habitat affiliates across the world have hosted their own initiatives to empower local women to build stronger, safer communities. Habitat for Humanity Niagara has hosted two Women Builds; one in 2015 in Welland and another in 2017 in Niagara Falls.

Volunteering

Many Build Day participants enjoy the experience so much, they join our volunteer program and build a long-term relationship with Habitat Niagara.  We offer a variety of diverse volunteer opportunities that will fit with many different schedules and skill levels, including ReStore volunteers, kitchen salvage crew members, event specialists and more.
