Walker is committed to contributing to the social, economic, and environmental well-being of each of our communities and has supported Habitat for Humanity Niagara for several years.
In the Spring of this year, 2023, Walker employees volunteered their time for two Habitat Niagara’s build days. The staff loved this fun and interactive way to give back to their community and heard about the need for work boots for volunteers on the build site and at our ReStores.
“Knowing that health and safety is paramount and seeing this as an opportunity to divert items from the landfill,” said Jenn Barraza, business performance specialist, Walker. “We decided to run a small initiative during our Season of Giving to collect used work boots destined for the trash can.”
Walker went a step further and not only secured safety boots, but they also captured a discount for Habitat Niagara with Mark’s Work Wearhouse on the purchase of additional safety footwear and donated $500 towards that purchase.
“Walker is honored and grateful to have established a strong partnership with Habitat Niagara,” said Jenn. “We share common values centered around creating a better, more sustainable future by providing resources, investing in resource recovery, and recognizing that everyone has the right to work safely.”
Habitat Niagara is always in need of safety footwear for our build day participants and volunteers. If your company would like to collect used safety boots through a boot drive, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
