Habitat for Humanity’s around the world are paying tribute to the late President Jimmy Carter and acknowledge how his efforts opened doors to brighter futures for thousands of Habitat homeowners over nearly four decades.

“President Carter’s contributions to Habitat for Humanity are among the most vital to our organization,” said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “He opened doors of opportunity for families worldwide, and all of us at Habitat have been honored and humbled to work alongside him. We were truly blessed to have his support, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Carter family.”

The public is invited to share their thoughts about Carter in an online memorial book.

“President Carter elevated the awareness for the need of affordable homeownership by championing Habitat for Humanity’s mission,” said Mark Carl, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Niagara. “He had a true passion for helping others by giving his time and raising his voice toward a vision of a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.”
