The 2026 Meaning of Home contest has officially closed, and all entries have been counted. This year, more than 19,000 Grade 4, 5 and 6 students from across Canada answered the question, ‘What does home mean to you?’ in our annual Meaning of Home writing contest.

We’d like to thank the schools, students and teachers for their hard work and dedication they put into this year’s contest. Everyone who entered earns a $10 donation to their local Habitat for Humanity with their submission. In addition, three grand prize winners will receive a $30,000 grant for their local Habitat. Runners-up win a $10,000 grant for their local Habitat.

In the Niagara region, over 40 schools participated, and students submitted 650 entries raising $6,500 for Habitat for Humanity Niagara.

Judging is now underway to determine the winners and runners-up, and we can’t wait to share the winning student submissions with you in the coming weeks!
