Before you apply

Habitat for Humanity’s path to homeownership is an important and in-depth process, requiring hard work, time and dedication. But this helps to ensure the long-term success of Habitat homeowners.

Anyone can apply to become a Habitat homeowner, but must be in need of better housing, able to make affordable mortgage payments and be willing to actively partner with their local Habitat, including a commitment to completing 500 volunteer hours. 

If you are selected to become a Habitat homeowner, Habitat for Humanity Niagara will work with you to help prepare you for the responsibilities of homeownership, which include workshops on budgeting, home maintenance and more.

Start the application process

You must currently live in the Niagara region to apply. If you are outside of the area, please visit to find a Habitat near you.

Complete the preliminary application either through the online form below or by downloading a paper form. 

Habitat for Humanity Niagara will review the application and run a credit report.

When a home is available in a city you are interested in, we will contact you to complete a more detailed application.
