Did you know that the Habitat for Humanity ReStores are a Canadian invention? This social enterprise store got its start in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1991 and was founded by a group of Habitat for Humanity volunteers. They created the innovative ReStore concept to help keep usable materials out of landfills AND help raise funds for Habitat for Humanity’s affordable homeownership program!
There are now more than 1,000 ReStores in six countries and they all started with the vision and passion of those volunteers from Winnipeg! We are so proud that this store that started in Canada and is not only helping to build homes nationally, it‘s helping people globally.
Habitat for Humanity Niagara runs three ReStore locations across our region and all of the proceeds from this Canadian-built store helps to build homes right here in our community! Your purchases and donations ensure that local Niagara families can build a better future through safe and affordable homeownership.
