NIAGARA REGION, ON With International Women’s Day coming up on Sunday, March 8, Habitat for Humanity Niagara is inviting women across the region to make a powerful and visible impact in their community by taking part in its upcoming Women Build Days.

In celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Give to Gain,” Habitat Niagara is encouraging women to give their time, skills and financial support and in return gain hands-on construction experience, confidence, connection and the opportunity to help build safe, affordable homes for local families.

To celebrate the strength and leadership of women, Habitat Niagara has opened select build days exclusively for women-led teams. These Women Build Days are designed to create a safe, welcoming and supportive space where women can feel empowered and comfortable while learning new construction skills alongside other women.

“Women Build is about more than swinging a hammer,” says Madeline Gerbracht, Fundraising Coordinator with Habitat Niagara. “It’s about coming together, lifting each other up and creating lasting change for families in our community. When women give their time and energy on the build site, they gain new skills, meaningful connections and the pride of building something that will change a family’s future.”

Habitat Niagara is currently building six-townhouses on Plymouth Road in Welland, where Women Build teams will have the opportunity to contribute directly to homes that will soon be filled with local families. This development is part of Habitat Niagara’s continued efforts to address the growing need for affordable housing across the region.

Each Women Build Day costs $3,600 per team, directly funding Habitat Niagara’s homebuilding program. Participating teams will receive an exclusive day on the Habitat build site, expert training and on-site support, lunch for the team and a one-of-a-kind Habitat t-shirt. Women are encouraged to form a team of six or join another team looking to fill spots.

Funds raised through Women Build Days help Habitat Niagara partner with local families to build homes, communities and hope.

This International Women’s Day, Habitat Niagara invites women to Give to Gain, give a day, give support, give strength — and gain the experience of building not just a house, but a brighter future for a family in Niagara.
