THOROLD, ON With the support of their strong network of suppliers and subtrades, Centennial Homes has committed to build four townhomes in Thorold this year, and site preparation is already underway.

During a groundbreaking ceremony, Mark Carl, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Niagara said they never dreamed that a generous gift of this size would be given to the non-profit.

Centennial Homes was awarded Company of the Year in 2023 by the Niagara Home Builders’ Association, and Founder and President Domenic DiLalla, connected with Mark to discuss the opportunity to give back to the community by embarking on this endeavour.

“This is a significant contribution to Habitat Niagara and the community as a whole, because this generous gift allows Habitat Niagara to build more affordable housing to help Niagara families,” said Mark Carl. “By building these four townhomes, Centennial Homes and their team of subtrades will make a positive impact on the lives of local families who will soon call these homes their own.”

Habitat for Humanity Niagara does not give away homes for free, qualified families who are selected for Habitat’s homeownership program partner with the agency by completing 500 volunteer hours and paying an affordable mortgage. The mortgage payments are deposited into a ‘fund for humanity’ allowing Habitat Niagara the opportunity to build more homes and serve more families in the Niagara region.

“Centennial Homes is thrilled to embark on this meaningful partnership with Habitat for Humanity to construct four townhomes in Thorold,” said Domenic DiLalla. “As a locally owned, family business, it brings both myself and my staff great joy to be able to give back to the community that has helped us grow. Together, we are not just building houses; we are building hope, stability, and brighter futures for our community. This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to making a meaningful impact, one home at a time, but also highlights the plethora of local businesses who we work alongside to achieve our goals. We are excited to see the positive transformations these homes will bring to the lives of these families and the community at large.”

“Their efforts to address the affordable housing crisis are crucial,” said Mark. “We hope projects like these continue to gain momentum and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.”

Habitat for Humanity Niagara would like to thank Centennial Homes and their list of suppliers and subtrades for helping Habitat for Humanity Niagara serve more families and improving living conditions for people right here in our community: All-Pro Plumbing and Heating, Bosco Roofing, EMCO, Emporium Carpet & Flooring, JELD-WEN Windows and Doors, Maplewood Stairs and Railings, McKeough, NAC Concrete Design, Niagara Home Builders’ Association, Noble, Robins Electric, Stark Lumber, Stranges Drywall, Walls by Walls Ltd., and Yvon Insulation.
