Looking for a creative project to keep your kids busy? Look no further we have the answer!

The Niagara ReStores are selling handcrafted wood birdhouses at their stores and online for $5 and proceeds help to support Habitat’s home building program.

Each birdhouse has been handmade by Paul Ryan, a local Fonthill resident, who has been building birdhouses and bird feeders for Habitat for Humanity Niagara for three years. Since 2018, Paul has made over 2,000 bird houses raising more than $10,000 to help Habitat Niagara build homes for local families.

“I’ve got to do something because I wasn’t ready to retire,” Paul explains. “I have always donated my time and helped a variety of local service clubs and charities. I feel strongly about Habitat for Humanity, homeowners put in time and it’s not a ‘hand out, it’s a hand up.”

All proceeds raised from the sale of these birdhouses go right into our home building program, to help build homes for families like Steve, a single father who is raising his four children on his own.
