When a section of the entrance flooring at Big Brothers Big Sisters Niagara’s Nearly New Thrift Store began to wear down, the team knew they needed to act quickly to maintain a safe, welcoming space for their customers, volunteers, and community members. But with a mission focused on supporting local youth through mentoring programs, every dollar counts. That’s when they reached out to a trusted partner—Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore. With a history of collaboration, including a bathroom and front counter renovation in 2023, Habitat once again stepped in to help.
The ReStore generously donated flooring materials, which were used to replace the worn-out entrance area. Installed on March 16th, the new floor has already made a noticeable impact.
“Since the installation, we’ve had countless customers comment on how fresh and beautiful it looks,” said Nancy Wilson, Nearly New Thrift Store coordinator. “One customer mentioned that the smoother transition from the sidewalk into the store now makes it much easier for her to enter the store with her walker. It’s a small change that has made a big difference in making our space more accessible to the community.”
Thanks to Habitat’s support, BBBS Niagara can continue focusing on what matters most—empowering local youth—while ensuring their store remains a safe and inviting place for everyone.
