When community organizations work together, great things can happen.
Habitat for Humanity Niagara recently partnered with Rose City Kids to build six storage sheds for the new Habitat townhomes in Welland. The project was made possible through funding from a City of Welland Community Grant, which covered the cost of the building materials.
The sheds were built at the Welland RONA Building Centre, where volunteers and staff came together to turn plans into reality. Once completed, the sheds will be delivered to the Habitat construction site and installed for future homeowners.
The project was led by Steve Nunes, Youth Mentorship Program Manager at Rose City Kids, who managed the shed construction with support from Habitat Niagara staff. The build also gave young people the opportunity to learn practical skills while working alongside experienced builders and volunteers.
The day was about more than construction. Rose City Kids brought their ice cream truck to the event, giving children and RONA customers a sweet treat while they watched the project come together. Metabo Tools also supported the build by supplying the tools needed to complete the sheds and Bucks by Tatra provided the safety footwear.
This partnership shows what is possible when local organizations, businesses and volunteers come together with a shared goal. These six sheds will provide valuable outdoor storage for future Habitat families, but they also represent something bigger, a community working together to help build brighter futures.
