Niagara ReStore volunteer receives Habitat Canada award

Each year, Habitat for Humanity Canada invites all local Habitats to nominate one of their volunteers for a special award to recognize their outstanding contribution. The 2018 award for Niagara was given to Myra Leffler at our Grimsby Evening at the ReStore event during National Volunteer Week.

Myra began volunteering at the Grimsby Habitat ReStore in 2018 and quickly took on many roles. The description given in the nomination sums up Myra in a beautiful way:

Myra is tireless in her willingness to do whatever it takes to make a difference or should I say impact in the Habitat Niagara group. Not only does she volunteer in the Grimsby ReStore location but she also drives to our build sites to act as a site host (anywhere in Niagara, despite the fact that she lives in Grimsby). She also helps out with special events.

At the Grimsby location she has done it all: lifting items, cleaning kitchens, even assisting in the Innovation Centre. Whatever is needed she willingly offers and does it with a big smile. She also worries about all of us. Some of us actually call her ‘Mom’. For all you do Myra, thank you so much as you truly embody the spirit of Habitat for Humanity!
