The Knights of Columbus held their 116th Annual Convention in Niagara Falls at the end of April, and as Knights do, they gave back to the community by volunteering at various charities, Habitat Niagara being one of them.
A group of 15 Knights volunteered at the St.Catharines ReStore helping to paint the store and assemble faucets in the warehouse.
Joe Bodnar, Knights of Columbus State Convention Director, reached out to Habitat Niagara letting us know that they have a group of members interested in volunteering with us for a day to help out where needed.
“We don’t typically have opportunities for large groups to volunteer,” said Angela Daley, Manager, Volunteer Engagement. “However the timing was perfect, our St.Catharines ReStore needed a little refreshing, so we let them know that they can come in and paint our store if they were interested.”
In addition to the group brushing on a fresh coat of paint, and cleaning and assembling faucets to bundle for sale in the store, they provided all the paint through a generous donation from Valspar Paint.
“They came in with a genuine interest in helping the mission of Habitat Niagara and were a wonderful group to work with,” said Angela.
Just as the Knights were leaving for the day, they surprised Habitat Niagara with a donation of $500.
